On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Virginia state sales tax:
– Energy Star products priced at $2,500 or less per item.
– Power generators priced at $1,000 or less per item.
– Gas powered chainsaws priced at $350 or less per item.
– Hurricane preparedness products priced at $60 or less per item.
– Clothing priced at $100 or less per article.
– School supplies priced at $20 or less per purchase.
– Special athletic or protective clothing or footwear, and accessories (jewelry, purses, luggage, umbrellas, wallets and watches) are excluded.
Many stores will be having special back to school sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, Target, Belk, Shoe Carnival, Famous Footwear, Dillard’s, Sears, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls, Kohl’s, Old Navy, Best Buy, Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples have frequent tax free weekend sales and back to school tax holiday promotions.
