MARCH 2025 UPDATE: Welcome to Lent season! Due to inflation, I doubt we’ll ever see a national 2 for $5 Filet-O-Fish again. However, McDonald’s usually runs some type of fish promotion between now and Easter Sunday. Regular price is now $4.39 in my area (up from $3.99 last year), so I’m thinking a sale price around $3 might happen? Possibly an app-only BOGO deal? I’ll keep watching. As soon as I receive further information, this page will be updated. Be sure to check back often!

McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish deals have been happening for more than 50 years. I’m 60 and can remember when they were just 49 cents! Over the years, the promotional price has increased gradually: 59 cents, 79 cents, 99 cents, 2 for $2, 2 for $2.22, 2 for $3, 2 for $3.33, 2 for $4, 2 for $4.44, and finally 2 for $5. In many areas, the Filet-O-Fish was available last year as part of McDonald’s 2 for $6 Mix & Match Deal. Originally, this special pricing was only available during the weeks leading up to Good Friday and Easter. More recently, we’ve been seeing Filet-O-Fish specials year-round!

While we’re on the subject of fishy offers for Lenten season, here’s the others that I have found at various restaurants:

– Arby’s: 2 for $6.99 Mix ‘n Match Crispy Fish or Fish N Cheddar. Confirmed for 2025, price has increased from 2 for $6.00 in 2024.
– Burger King: Buy 1 Big Fish, get 1 for $2. Available exclusively online or via the BK app.
– Del Taco: 3 for $7.00 Beer Battered Fish Tacos, 2 for $6 Jumbo Shrimp Tacos.

These offers were available last year, but have not yet been confirmed for 2025:

– Captain D’s: Buy 1 Giant Fish, get 1 for $1 Fridays 2/16, 2/23, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5

This is what I call “Cheap Filet-O-Fish Season.” It’s that magic time of year when McDonald’s drops the price of their Filet-O-Fish sandwiches at many locations across the U.S. I have good news and bad news for the current Lenten season. First, the bad news: I have seen fewer deals this year vs in the past. The special spring Filet-O-Fish offer is not a national promotion. Pricing and availability varies by restaurant and region. So far, there just aren’t as many discounted deals this year as there used to be. Hopefully, this will change as we get closer to Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

The GOOD news is that Micky D’s in southern California has brought back Filet-O-Fish Fridays. Price for 2024 is $2.99 and qualifies as one of the best fish sandwich deals available. Order using the McDonald’s mobile app and price is just $2.50! The catch is that it’s ONLY available for 7 Fridays and ONLY at select locations. These are the dates:

– Friday, February 23, 2024
– Friday, March 1, 2024
– Friday, March 8, 2024
– Friday, March 15, 2024
– Friday, March 22, 2024

Most of the Los Angeles metro area restaurants are honoring this promotion. Don’t miss $2.99 Filet-O-Fish Fridays, available through Good Friday 2024 at participating southern California McDonald’s restaurants. Most locations will be open holiday hours on Easter Sunday, March 31.

INFLATION ALERT: The price of this annual promotion has increased from $4.99 in 2022 to $5.49 in 2023 at my local McDonald’s. Similar price increases are being reported in most other areas.

The elusive McRib sandwich has returned to McDonald’s menu! It pops up occasionally in certain parts of the country, usually during the winter months or around Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years when diners are looking for an inexpensive warm meal. This year marks the 42nd Anniversary of the McRib. It was first introduced at a Kansas City, Kansas Micky D’s back in November, 1981.

Walking by my local McDonald’s yesterday, I noticed the posters on the windows proclaiming this most blessed event! This pork patty sandwich with pickles and onions is actually very good and well worth the price which remains under $6 at most locations. In my town, a McRib sandwich only is priced at $5.49. The McRib Meal (sandwich, fries, and a drink) costs $10.19 with medium fries or $11.19 with large fries.

If you want “something different” next time you’re at McDonald’s, get your hands on a McRib! This promotion is available for a limited time at participating restaurants. Prices may vary by location. Not available after midnight. Select McDonald’s restaurants will be open holiday hours on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25.)

McDonald’s is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day. Yes, it’s a real holiday! To prove it, they will be offering 50 cent Double Cheeseburgers through the McDonald’s app.

Enjoy a half dollar Micky D’s Double Cheeseburger on September 18th. Current menu price at my local McDonald’s is $2.99, so this is quite the deal! No coupon required, but you must use the app on your phone to order. Don’t miss National Cheeseburger Day and 50 cent Double Cheeseburgers this Monday at your neighborhood McDonald’s.

Offer valid only on Monday, September 18, 2023 at participating restaurants. Limit one free Double Cheeseburger per person. Not valid in conjunction with any other coupon or special promotional discount. Most McDonald’s restaurants will be open regular hours on Columbus Day (Monday, October 9.)

Does a medium Coca-Cola sound good? You guessed it: just $1.00 this summer at Mickey D’s. No coupon or secret handshake required. Cool off for less with the soft drink of your choice at a price too good to refuse! This promotion includes the following brands:

Pi Day only happens once per year and so does this promotion. You’ll need the mobile app to activate this deal, so be sure it is installed on your phone and operating correctly.

It didn’t happen in 2025, so we are waiting anxiously to see if McDonald’s brings back their “Cold Days, Hot Deals” lunch and dinner promotion for 2026. As you may recall, this deal gave you a Quarter Pounder with Cheese for yesterday’s temperature at noon when you purchased one at the regular menu price. For instance, if it was 7 degrees at 12PM yesterday, you would buy one Quarter Pounder at regular price and receive the second for just 7 cents.

As you would expect, this offer was limited to select northern markets. A variation at some locations provided the same deal on an Egg McMuffin. If temperature at noon was 0 or below zero, your second QPC or Egg McMuffin was free. Needless to say, this is a great winter promotion. We’re hoping that Mickey D’s brings it back next year. McDonalds’s has officially discontinued their Dollar Menu. Actually, it had become the “Dollar Menu & More” menu in recent years with most items migrating to the “more” category. Rising food and labor costs have necessitated the retirement of Micky D’s Dollar Menu. In it’s place, they have introduced the 2 for $2 McPick Menu.

As the name suggests, you pick any 2 items and pay $2.00. There are currently 4 choices:

– McChicken Sandwich
– McDouble Sandwich
– World Famous Fries (small size)
– 3 Piece Mozzarella Sticks

The new McDonald’s 2 for $2 McPick menu is available for a limited time at participating restaurants. Most locations will be open holiday hours on Easter Sunday, March 27.

I first became aware of this special when I lived in Hays, Kansas. Both McDonald’s locations offered 29 cent hamburgers and 39 cent cheeseburgers on Tuesday nights. Food price inflation later pushed the price to 39 cent hamburgers/49 cent cheeseburgers and finally to the current 49 cent hamburgers/59 cent cheeseburgers. Doing a quick search online shows these McDonald’s are still hosting the weekly Tuesday night hamburger and cheeseburger sale. So are several other locations in the region. It’s typically a 3-hour weekly promotion, valid from 5:00-8:00PM.

This is one of those McDonald’s deals that you’ll only find in certain states and cities. It’s not likely to be advertised, except on local radio, television, newspapers, and coupon magazines. It’s not available everywhere. At this price, it’s worth a call or visit to your local McDonald’s to see if they offer this or a similar promotion. It may be offered on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights. Not likely on weekend nights, due to the fact that most McDonald’s restaurants are usually very busy during these times. Check around and find out!

Try Mighty Wings, the new bone-in chicken wings from McDonald’s. While you’re there, don’t forget to enjoy a Shamrock Shake in early celebration of St. Patrick’s Day!
