McDonald’s is celebrating National Cheeseburger Day. Yes, it’s a real holiday! To prove it, they will be offering 50 cent Double Cheeseburgers through the McDonald’s app.

Enjoy a half dollar Micky D’s Double Cheeseburger on September 18th. Current menu price at my local McDonald’s is $3.69, so this is quite the deal! No coupon required, but you must use the app on your phone to order. Don’t miss National Cheeseburger Day and 50 cent Double Cheeseburgers this Thursday at your neighborhood McDonald’s.

Offer valid only on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at participating restaurants. Limit one free Double Cheeseburger per person. Not valid in conjunction with any other coupon or special promotional discount. Most McDonald’s restaurants will be open regular hours on Columbus Day (Monday, October 13.)

MARCH 2025 UPDATE: Welcome to Lent season! Due to inflation, I doubt we’ll ever see a national 2 for $5 Filet-O-Fish again. However, McDonald’s usually runs some type of fish promotion between now and Easter Sunday. Regular price is now $4.39 in my area (up from $3.99 last year), so I’m thinking a sale price around $3 might happen? Possibly an app-only BOGO deal? I’ll keep watching. As soon as I receive further information, this page will be updated. Be sure to check back often!

McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish deals have been happening for more than 50 years. I’m 60 and can remember when they were just 49 cents! Over the years, the promotional price has increased gradually: 59 cents, 79 cents, 99 cents, 2 for $2, 2 for $2.22, 2 for $3, 2 for $3.33, 2 for $4, 2 for $4.44, and finally 2 for $5. In many areas, the Filet-O-Fish was available last year as part of McDonald’s 2 for $6 Mix & Match Deal. Originally, this special pricing was only available during the weeks leading up to Good Friday and Easter. More recently, we’ve been seeing Filet-O-Fish specials year-round!

While we’re on the subject of fishy offers for Lenten season, here’s the others that I have found at various restaurants:

– Arby’s: 2 for $6.99 Mix ‘n Match Crispy Fish or Fish N Cheddar. Confirmed for 2025, price has increased from 2 for $6.00 in 2024.
– Burger King: Buy 1 Big Fish, get 1 for $2. Available exclusively online or via the BK app.
– Del Taco: 3 for $7.00 Beer Battered Fish Tacos, 2 for $6 Jumbo Shrimp Tacos.

These offers were available last year, but have not yet been confirmed for 2025:

– Captain D’s: Buy 1 Giant Fish, get 1 for $1 Fridays 2/16, 2/23, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5
– Checker’s & Rally’s: Buy One Get One FREE Crispy Fish Fridays 2/16, 2/23, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29.
– Runza: North Pacific Cod Sandwich. Available February-March. Price varies by location.
– Wendy’s: Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich, $5.49 at my local Wendy’s. Price varies by location.

This is what I call “Cheap Filet-O-Fish Season.” It’s that magic time of year when McDonald’s drops the price of their Filet-O-Fish sandwiches at many locations across the U.S. I have good news and bad news for the current Lenten season. First, the bad news: I have seen fewer deals this year vs in the past. The special spring Filet-O-Fish offer is not a national promotion. Pricing and availability varies by restaurant and region. So far, there just aren’t as many discounted deals this year as there used to be. Hopefully, this will change as we get closer to Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

The GOOD news is that Micky D’s in southern California has brought back Filet-O-Fish Fridays. Price for 2024 is $2.99 and qualifies as one of the best fish sandwich deals available. Order using the McDonald’s mobile app and price is just $2.50! The catch is that it’s ONLY available for 7 Fridays and ONLY at select locations. These are the dates:

Most of the Los Angeles metro area restaurants are honoring this promotion. Don’t miss $2.99 Filet-O-Fish Fridays, available through Good Friday 2024 at participating southern California McDonald’s restaurants. Most locations will be open holiday hours on Easter Sunday, March 31.
