Don’t miss this year’s New Mexico Sales Tax Holiday when doing your back-to-school shopping. The tax free weekend takes place over 3 days:

Saturday, July 26
Sunday, July 27
On these dates, you can purchase these items free of New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax, aka state sales tax:
– Clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less per item. Excludes clothing accessories and athletic or protective clothing or footwear.
– Computers priced at $1,000 or less per item.
– Certain “computer related” items and equipment priced at $500 or less per item.
– Handheld calculators priced at $200 or less per purchase.
– Book bags, backpacks, maps and globes priced at $100 or less per purchase.
– School supplies priced at $30 or less per purchase.
Many stores will be having special back to school sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. Walmart, Target, Belk, Shoe Carnival, Famous Footwear, Dillard’s, Sears, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls, Kohl’s, Old Navy, Best Buy, Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples have frequent tax free weekend sales and back to school tax holiday promotions.
