UPDATE: As of August 1, 2025, Florida has replaced their various disaster preparedness sales tax holidays with a PERMANENT year-round sales tax exemption on many essential hurricane supplies! This includes batteries, portable generators, smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers, tarps, portable gas/diesel cans, and life jackets.

– Ground anchor systems or tie-down kits priced at $50 or less
– AA, C, D, 6-Volt, or 9-Volt batteries priced at $30 or less
– Nonelectric coolers and ice chests priced at $30 or less
– Gas, LP gas, diesel fuel, or kerosene containers priced at $25 or less
– Portable self-powered flashlights, candles, lanterns, or other light sources priced at $20 or less
– Reusable ice priced at $10 or less

Any sales made within an airport, entertainment complex, theme park, or public lodging establishment do NOT qualify for this tax exemption.

Be sure to take advantage of the Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday: June 7-20, 2025. If you miss it, a SECOND Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will be held August 23-September 5, 2025.

This tax holiday applied in previous years but has NOT yet been approved by the Texas Legislature for 2026. I will keep watching to see if it or a similar offer returns. As soon as I receive further information, this page will be updated. Be sure to check back often!

The following items do NOT qualify for the Sales Tax Holiday:

– Medical masks and face masks
– Cleaning supplies, such as disinfectants and bleach wipes
– Gloves, including leather, fabric, latex and types used in healthcare
– Toilet paper
– Batteries for automobiles, boats and other motorized vehicles
– Tents
– Camping stoves
– Camping supplies
– Chainsaws
– Plywood
– Extension and stepladders
– Repair or replacement parts for emergency preparation supplies
– Services performed on, or related to, emergency preparation supplies
