Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

On these dates, you can purchase qualifying items free of Florida state and local sales tax:

– Portable generators priced at $750 or less
– Portable self-powered radios, 2-way radios, or weather band radios priced at $50 or less
– Tarps or other flexible waterproof sheeting priced at $50 or less
– Ground anchor systems or tie-down kits priced at $50 or less
– AA, C, D, 6-Volt, or 9-Volt batteries priced at $30 or less
– Nonelectric coolers and ice chests priced at $30 or less
– Gas, LP gas, diesel fuel, or kerosene containers priced at $25 or less
– Portable self-powered flashlights, candles, lanterns, or other light sources priced at $20 or less
– Reusable ice priced at $10 or less

Any sales made within an airport, entertainment complex, theme park, or public lodging establishment do NOT qualify for this tax exemption.

Missouri Show Me Green Energy Sales Tax Holiday

This tax holiday applied earlier this year but has NOT yet been approved by the Missouri Legislature for 2025. As soon as I receive further information, this page will be updated. Be sure to check back often!

Don’t miss this year’s Missouri Show Me Green (Energy Star) Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for appliances. This annual tax free event takes place over 7 days:

Friday, April 19
Saturday, April 20
Sunday, April 21
Monday, April 22
Tuesday, April 23
Wednesday, April 24
Thursday, April 25

On these dates, sales of qualifying Energy Star certified new appliances up to $1,500 will be exempt from Missouri state sales tax. If the purchase price is over $1,500, the first $1,500 is exempt from state sales tax and the remaining amount over $1,500 is taxable at the full rate. Local jurisdictions (cities and counties) can choose to participate in the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday. All items MUST be ENERGY STAR labeled:

– Clothes washers
– Clothes dryers
– Water heaters
– Dishwashers
– Air conditioners
– Furnaces
– Refrigerators
– Freezers
– Heat pumps

These items DO NOT qualify, even if ENERGY STAR compliant:

– Air filtration systems
– Bread machines
– Camping stoves
– Coffee makers
– Conventional ovens*
– Convection ovens*
– Cook-tops*
– Deep fryers
– De-humidifiers
– Hot food holding cabinets
– Humidifiers
– Ice makers
– Microwave ovens
– Popcorn makers
– Ranges*
– Reflector ovens
– Steam cookers
– Stoves*
– Trash compactors*
– Warming drawers
– Water softeners
– Wine coolers

*According to the Energy Star website, trash compactors, conventional ovens, ranges and stoves do not receive an Energy Star rating. Therefore, although Missouri statute anticipates that some day they may receive the energy star rating, tax will continue to apply to purchases of these items during the upcoming Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.

Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday

Don’t miss the Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for appliances and light bulbs. This 3 day tax free event takes place over Memorial Day Weekend:

Saturday, May 25
Sunday, May 26
Monday, May 27

On these dates, you can purchase qualifying items free of Texas state and local sales tax. All items MUST be ENERGY STAR labeled:

– Air conditioners priced at $6,000 or less
– Refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less
– Ceiling fans
– Incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs
– Clothes washers
– Dishwashers
– Dehumidifiers

These items DO NOT qualify, even if ENERGY STAR compliant:

– Water heaters
– Clothes dryers
– Freezers
– Stoves
– Attic fans
– Heat pumps
– Wine refrigerators
– Beer kegerators
– Other beverage chillers

Delivery, shipping, handling, and transportation charges by the seller are part of the item’s sales price. Charges for installing free-standing items are also part of the item’s sales price. All of these charges qualify for the tax exemption.

Texas Emergency Preparation Sales Tax Holiday

On these dates, you can purchase qualifying items free of Texas state and local sales tax:

– Portable generators priced at $3,000 or less
– Emergency ladders priced at $300 or less
– Hurricane shutters priced at $300 or less
– Axes and hatchets priced at $75 or less
– Batteries: AAA, AA, C, D, 6 volt, and 9 volt
– Non-electric can openers priced at $75 or less
– Carbon Monoxide detectors priced at $75 or less
– Non-electric coolers and ice chests for food storage priced at $75 or less
– Fire extinguishers priced at $75 or less
– First aid kits priced at $75 or less
– Fuel containers priced at $75 or less
– Ground anchor systems and tie-down kits priced at $75 or less
– Reusable and artificial ice products priced at $75 or less
– Candles, flashlights, lanterns, and other portable self-powered light sources priced at $75 or less
– Wireless phone batteries and chargers priced at $75 or less
– Portable self-powered radios priced at $75 or less. Includes two-way and weather radios.
– Smoke detectors priced at $75 or less
– Tarps and other plastic sheeting priced at $75 or less

The following items do NOT qualify for the Sales Tax Holiday:

– Medical masks and face masks
– Cleaning supplies, such as disinfectants and bleach wipes
– Gloves, including leather, fabric, latex and types used in healthcare
– Toilet paper
– Batteries for automobiles, boats and other motorized vehicles
– Tents
– Camping stoves
– Camping supplies
– Chainsaws
– Plywood
– Extension and stepladders
– Repair or replacement parts for emergency preparation supplies
– Services performed on, or related to, emergency preparation supplies

Alabama Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

On these dates, you can purchase qualifying items free of Alabama state sales tax:

– Portable generators and power cords priced at $1,000 or less
– Portable self-powered radios, 2-way radios, or weather band radios priced at $60 or less
– Tarps or other flexible waterproof sheeting priced at $60 or less
– Ground anchor systems or tie-down kits priced at $60 or less
– AA, C, D, 6-Volt, or 9-Volt batteries priced at $60 or less
– Nonelectric coolers, ice chests, and can openers priced at $60 or less
– Gas or diesel fuel containers priced at $60 or less
– Portable self-powered flashlights, candles, lanterns, or emergency glow sticks priced at $60 or less
– Reusable ice priced at $60 or less

Coin batteries, automobile batteries, and boat batteries do NOT qualify for this tax exemption.
