It’s that time of year again! Time for McDonald’s to offer special pricing on the Filet-O-Fish sandwich. In the late winter and early spring, Micky D’s will discount their Filet-O-Fish by a significant amount. These promotions usually begin around Valentine’s Day, lasting until Good Friday or Easter Sunday. Lent Filet-O-Fish deals have been happening for at least 45 years. I’m 53, and can remember when they were just 49 cents! Over the years, the promo price has increased gradually: 59 cents, 79 cents, 99 cents, 2 for $2, 2 for $2.22, 2 for $3, 2 for $3.33, 2 for $4, and 2 for $4.44.
Last year, 2 for $5 was a common sale price. In many areas, the Filet-O-Fish was available as part of McDonald’s popular McPick 2 for $5 offering. However, this promotion has been replaced by the new $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu. We’re waiting to see if the spring Filet-O-Fish promotion is incorporated into the Dollar Menu or becomes available as a standalone deal. Be sure to install the McDonald’s mobile app on your phone since this is often a source of specials which aren’t available elsewhere.
UPDATED FEBRUARY 14, 2018: Happy Ash Wednesday! I’m happy to report the first Filet-O-Fish deal of the 2018 season! Actually, TWO specials via the McDonald’s mobile app. Check the “Deals” section for a Buy One Filet-O-Fish, get One 50% Off eCoupon. In my area, regular price is $3.79, so this would get you 2 sandwiches for $5.68 or $2.84 each. There is also an eCoupon for $1 Any Sandwich when you use Mobile Order and Pay. Both are valid through 2/18. These offers vary regionally, so they may differ at your local McDonald’s. Again, these specials are exclusive to Micky D’s mobile app. If you don’t have it yet, you can download free on Google Play (Android) or from the Apple App Store (iPhone.)
It’s still early and Lent season has just arrived. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more cheap Filet-O-Fish sandwiches and let you know what we find. Be sure to check back often!
McDonald’s Dollar Menu was one of their most popular promotions. Eventually, food price inflation forced it’s discontinuation. For months, a NEW McDonald’s Dollar Menu was rumored to be in the works. – $1 Cheeseburger, McChicken, Sausage Burrito, any size drink.
– $2 Bacon McDouble, 2 Piece Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Tenders, Sausage McGriddles, Small McCafe.
– $3 Triple Cheeseburger, Classic Chicken Sandwich, Happy Meal, Sausage McMuffin with Egg.
As you can see, each of these price points represents a great value. Choose your price, choose your favorites, enjoy your meal! Stop in today and sample McDonald’s $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu!

Every week, there are several rotating specials exclusively for app users. You can receive discounts off specific menu items, FREE items, plus 2-for-1 offers. For the past few months, McDonald’s has been offering a free large sandwich when you buy one at the regular price. Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and Filet-O-Fish are all included in this promotion.
The great thing about the McDonald’s app deals is that you don’t have to clip coupons or remember to bring them to the restaurant. Just show the code on your phone and scan it at the cash register. This special is valid once per day per customer. Be sure to check and make sure the Buy One Get One Free deal is still valid before you head to Micky D’s. Also, be sure this deal is available in your area since McDonald’s app promotions and dates may vary by market.
