Georgia Energy Star Appliance Sales Tax Holiday

October 4, 2024

This tax holiday applied in previous years but has NOT yet been approved by the Georgia Legislature for 2025. As soon as I receive further information, this page will be updated. Be sure to check back often!

Don’t miss this year’s Georgia Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for energy-efficient products and appliances. The Energy Star and WaterSense tax free weekend takes place for 3 days only:

Friday, October 2
Saturday, October 3
Sunday, October 4

On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Georgia state sales tax:

Energy-efficient and water-efficient products purchased for noncommercial use and priced at $1,500 or less per item. Tax exemption does not apply to purchases for trade, business, resale, or commercial use.

Qualifying Energy Star items include air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, doors, fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, and windows.

Qualifying WaterSense items include bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories (aerators, etc.), high efficiency toilets/urinals, showerheads, and weather/sensor-based irrigation controllers.

Many stores will be having special sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, and Costco are all good bets for tax free weekend sales and special appliance tax holiday promotions.

Be sure to take advantage of the Georgia Sales Tax Holiday weekend for Energy Star and WaterSense appliances: October 2-3-4, 2020.
